The Day has finally arrived!!!
Works have now started on preparing the site and building the foundations for our long awaited State of the Art Classrooms!! Over the next few months, our school will witness the largest investment in its 115 year history from the Department of Education, with works due to complete in March 2023.
There will be monumental benefits for our children in the years to come:
- Three new State of the Art Classrooms will replace the existing mobiles which have stood since 2002;
- All classrooms will have Interactive 'Digi-Panel Boards' with Fast Internet Fibre Connectivity.
- An outdoor classroom for Primary 1 and 2 pupils to ensure 'happiness and play' are prioritised;
- Our Playgrounds will double in size and be resurfaced with new tarmac allowing an expansive space for PE games and children's play times;
- Spacious and comfortable modern classrooms will give our pupils a superior educational experience during their time in St Malachy's;
- Disabled access for pupils, staff and visitors will ensure our school meets the needs of all in terms of health and safety.
- There will be an upgraded school playing field to ensure maximised opportunities for outdoor PE lessons throughout the academic year;
- Our School's Trim-Trail/Playpark and Polytunnel will be relocated on the site so that pupils can have access to these during break times and for after school's activities.
It is expected that works will be completed by the end of March 2023. Our pupils will then be relocating to the new modular buildings and start enjoying the benefits that they bring.
